Program Description
During this interactive, industry-sponsored presentation, attendees will be introduced to an emerging, laboratory-based tool for the management of chronic pain known as the Foundation Pain Index (Foundation PI). Attendees will learn about the development, clinical validation, and clinical utility data supporting this novel, multi-biomarker test panel. Foundation PI is the first standardized biochemical index to assist providers in identifying underlying determinants of pain while simultaneously indicating pers onalized, non-opioid pain therapies. This innovative, non-invasive assay uses highly complex laboratory techniques to accurately quantify the physiological levels of eleven pain related biomarkers in a single urine sample. Validated weightings for each of the unique biomarkers are then applied in combination with a proprietary algorithm to generate a composite biomarker index which quantifies the likelihood that pain is due, at least in part to the detected biochemical, metabolic, and nutritional abnormalities. Dr Kasra Amirdelfan will provide an overview of the clinical studies supporting Foundation PI, introduce attendees to Foundation PI test reports, strategies for clinical implementation and provide examples of clinical use cases.
