Extensive research from multiple disciplines has shown that music is a potent means of connecting the body, mind, and spirit. It can be used to foster resilience as well as modulate autonomic nervous system function and vagal response. Andrew Rossetti, a music psychotherapist and coordinator for the Music Therapy Program in Radiation Oncology at the Louis Armstrong Center for Music and Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York, talks about the HOWs and WHYs of music therapy.
