One of the first Indian female doctor of western medicine, she
- Married at 9, gave birth at 14 to a son who, due to a lack of medical care, only lived 10 days; the tragedy inspired her to become a doctor
- Enrolled at the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia
- In India, was appointed physician-in-charge of the Albert Edward Hospital female ward
- Died at 21 years of age, of tuberculosis
