Program Description
This symposium will provide an overview of classifications, epidemiology and treatment guidelines in the management of chronic pain (CP), with a focus on unmet medical needs and the burden of chronic musculoskeletal pain. An in-depth review of the current understanding of CP pathophysiology; the various mediators, their role in central and peripheral sensitization, and an overview of mechanisms of current treatment and mechanistic targets under investigation. Review of best practices in setting, communicating and working with patients toward individual treatment goals in chronic pain.
